Work permit is issued to an individual who has been employed by a company in Ghana. This comes in a letter form, and titled, 'PERMIT TO EMPLOY FOREIGN NATIONAL'. The company in whose name the permit was or will be issued, is also detailed in the letter. Note that if you are coming to work in Ghana for even a week you need a work permit be able to work legally

PROCESS: The work permit process takes NOT LESS than three (3) weeks when all relevant documents and forms are duly completed. The relevant fees are paid first before the application is submitted.

Residence permit is issued to foreign nationals to enable them stay legally in the country. There are several types of residence permit, but for the benefit of our work, we will restrict ourselves to what you need. Residence permit can only be issued when approval has been given to a work permit application. The individual will then be requested to submit his/her passport for the residence permit to be issued.

It must also be noted that the issuing of the residence permit takes a week or more to process.

REQUIREMENTS

Application letter for work/residence permit
Copy of Company registration documents i.e. Certificate to commence Business, Certificate of Incorporation and Companies code.
Copy of the applicant’s bio data page of his/her passport
Copy of the contract agreement between the company and the applicant
Copy of applicant’s non-citizen ID
Filled work permit forms from Ghana Immigration Service
Filled Residence permit forms from Ghana Immigration Service
Applicant’s CV
Applicant’s medical report conducted at Immigration Clinic
Applicant’s Police clearance certificate from his/her home country
Company’s Tax Clearance Certificate
Two passport pictures of the applicant
